I am the mentor teacher in the beautiful community of Webequie First Nation. No matter where you are on the island, you have a view of the water. Our KiHS classroom, the local school, and my teacherage all have million-dollar waterfront views! In the spring and summer time, Webequie looks like a beautiful green oasis. But in my opinion, the fall and winter are when this community shows it’s most dazzling colours. This fall and last fall were beautiful and I am so looking forward to another white winter in the community.
The KiHS classroom is located in portable 3 near the Simon Jacob Memorial Education Centre. We have a small brown building but it has everything we need to learn and grow together. When I first arrived in Webequie in August 2017, I was taken aback by how friendly everyone was towards my partner, Jason, and I. The kindness and friendliness that the members of Webequie have shown us has only increased over time. Whenever we walk to or from school, to the Northern Store, or are out and about, someone is waving to us from their truck. I am so thankful to have been placed in Webequie First Nation and I am looking forward to a great 2018/2019 school year!
